How It Began ...

Once upon a time, somewhere in the heart of central Europe, there was a building engineer who loved music above all. His love for music was so strong that he not only listened, but also learned to play several musical instruments.

The lovely natural sound of acoustic instruments captured his imagination so completely that he fell for the music body and soul. He started to seek that holy grail of acoustic tone - a quest that quickly led him to building the instruments capable of producing such beautiful sounds. But he lived during difficult times. A cruel king governed the country, and forbade all arts and crafts from other lands. The poor building engineer could only work in the building industry, since his real creative expression was forbidden. So his beloved musical instruments were made secretly, during sleepless nights in the small cellar workshop.

Finally the cruel king was deposed. Music previously forbidden came to the land, and acoustic music found its way to people's hearts. Our engineer was able to express his great love for the musical instruments by making their creation his profession. But even at that time it was not easy for an individual luthier to earn his livelihood.

Big companies mass-producing instruments of a poor quality dominated the market. It seemed to be impossible to break through with quality handmade instruments. And then a benefactor who recognized solid craftsmanship and quality came along. He pulled out a purse from his pocket and said: "Take this money and buy everything you need to build excellent musical instruments for everyone interested. I will be your partner and we will create a good business together!" And it was done. They established a small art workshop where skilled luthiers could build top quality musical instruments and send them to discerning customers all around the world.

  About Us/stará1

Is this just a fairy tale? No, this is a true story ...

We at ROZAWOOD are producing top-quality creations in our workshop now. We prefer to use traditional methods and use only top quality materials. We are focused on the perfection of our craftsmanship. We are not a factory or a manufacturer, but an artists' workshop; therefore we are able to make only a limited quantity of instruments. We recommend our instruments to those players who prefer sensitive and expressive acoustic sounds.

We build not only simply-designed instruments, but also fancy custom models with elaborate, original inlay works. These are made from various precious materials, from pearl and exotic woods to silver and gold.

We are now making fine acoustic guitars, resophonic guitars, octave mandolins and mandocellos. We would be pleased to hear our customers say, after testing our instruments, that their appearance is as fabulous as their tone.
